Upsala’s Heritage Day theme is ‘Let Freedom Ring’

The folks in Upsala welcome all to join them in celebrating this year’s Heritage Day, with the theme of “Let Freedom Ring, Thank a Veteran.” The event is kicked off the Monday before, when the Medallion Hunt begins, Monday, Aug. 7. Clues will be posted on the Upsala City website at www.cityofupsala.com, at area businesses and on local radio stations.

While all of the festivities are held Saturday, Aug. 12, The Upstage Junior Theater Camp will present “Finding Nemo,” Friday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. Another performance is planned for Saturday, Aug. 12, at 10 a.m.

Saturday, Aug. 12, begins with registering at the Upsala High School at 8 a.m. to participate in the 5K run.

The Upsala Heritage Day parade is historically one of the largest in the area, and this year, it will start at 4 p.m. in the afternoon, a big change from previous years.

After the parade, fun for the whole family will continue in the city park. The park will be filled with activities for every age, music during the afternoon by Handmade Jammin’ is sponsored by Friends of the Upsala Library. Other activities include miniature golf, kids games, train rides, inflatables, pedal pull, face painting, bean bag toss, call walk and a car show.
